Nice

Southern France is pretty much exactly how I pictured it, streets lined in colorful old beautiful buildings bursting with classical details, turquoise blue water, and Frenchies baking themselves. Of course, there are many nicely dressed Frenchies as well as the scantily clad ones, two men in attractive suits were strolling down the boardwalk and my inner sartorialist told me I had to take a picture of them!
We spent three heavenly days in Nice, each one started at the food market with some fruit and bread (they are very fond of white asparagus, I was amazed at the size)
and then progressed to antiquing, shopping at Galleries Lafayette where I purchased my favorite pair of sandals, tours on the little train and through the harbor, and lovely meals in Old Nice. Oh, and of course our afternoon at the beach which cost a hefty 20euro, but was impossibly pleasant and unforgettable. Another highlight of Nice was the gelato shop Amorino. I had been there previously on my trips to Paris and we were stoked to see they had one in Nice, and we showed our gratitude by eating there every day. Their ice cream is beyond, such rich flavors and they sculpt it into a rose on the cone. So its
Nice was relaxing and soft on the eyes; I loved spending time there.

  1. What a great post. Southern France looks exactly as I picture it, too--and I love that you snapped pictures of those yellow-suited men. And you look fabulous in your picture in the gelato shop...some people were just made to be in Europe. It's all lovely!

I guess I'll have to hear about your life sitting here on my laptop, since I'm not allowed to see you. What the heck is that all about?!
