Cousin Dinner

This Sunday, Father's Day, we (Taylor, Shelby, Shelley and I) drove to Draper to our aunt Kay's house where we had dinner with her and Kirstin and Dan, our cousins. It had been a really long time since we had been together and they prepared a delightful feast for us. Both aesthetically and tastewise, it was superb. To start, toasts with brie, walnuts and a drizzle of honey. And a dip of some sort with tomatoes and mushrooms on toasts. I must admit I couldn't get enough of the brie/walnut toasts. Really the perfect texture and taste combination. For the main course, grilled steak/mushroom skewers, grilled shrimp/pineapple skewers, strawberry/mango/pecan/feta salad, and lemonade with fresh mashed strawberry mixed in. For dessert I made an espresso chocolate cheesecake with a hazelnut pastry crust. We enjoyed ourselves for hours, chomping and conversing. We got into crazy mission stories, and I learned that there are many trashy places in the United States that are much more dangerous than Brazil. We naturally swapped Grandpa stories also. All had a good laugh. Then as we walked out to leave, we were gifted this stunning sunset!

  1. Great pics! Wow, that toast seriously sounds unreals. I wish you would've taken a picture of your guys' cheesecake, that sounds amazing. Hazelnut pastry crust? Just the name sounds hard.

Beautiful sunset, I'm glad you got to go have a fun dinner with your cousins. Nothing like a little camaraderie over amazing food!
