Tulips!!!
Rachel and Christine Zackrison and I arrived in Frankfurt Monday morning! It was a unique and wonderful thing to have their Mom waiting for us at the curb in their car. We drove through Frankfurt and then settled in at their house for a nice long nap. Eventually we made it to a German restaurant down the road for a late dinner of wienerschnitzle and it was surprisingly delicious. I am not much of a meat lover, but over here every place we go seems to serve meat, meat, and more meat.
Yesterday we drove to Keukenhof which is outside of Amsterdam in Holland. It is a Descanso Gardens-like experience but full of tulips. You have never seen so many and such beautiful tulips. We had warm waffles at the entrance which tasted heavenly. Then we made our way around the grounds and basked in the bountiful harvest of blooms. What a treat it was to spend the afternoon with the Z's surrounded by the tulips.
I'll try to keep updating as we go along. I can't believe I'm actually here, it's all very surreal and wonderful. I love Europe. And I have never seen so many bikes as are here in Holland. Everyone rides sweet bikes around, with baskets, in suits and at all hours of the night. So lovely.
