Don't worry, it's not me that's broken it's my dearest friend Paige Morton, who had surgery Friday morning. She had two small bone fragments about the size of one's pinky nail just chillin in her knee since she was young and because of her high level of activity it became necessary to remove them. The procedure was only 35min but the recovery from being opened up, even if only about an inch on the knee, is unfortunately not overnight. I felt successful because I was with Paige when they took her into the OR and afterwards when Paige was coming to she couldn't see much but she knew I was there because she could see my bright yellow shirt. I was so glad to be there for her. I spent Friday afternoon and night with Paige. We watched an old Cary Grant film called Houseboat. I loved it, but Paige will have to re-watch it later because she fell asleep for more than half of it. Morphine is an amazing drug; she felt better Friday than Saturday thanks to that running through her body. Yesterday we had a lovely outing to Taylor's house to use his cushy couch and large screen to watch Australia. Here I am with the paraphernalia necessary to move Paige from one place to another; I felt like I had a high maintenance child. It was pretty funny.
In between playing Nurse Haley, I squeezed in an epic day of skiing at Snowbird. The forecast said cloudy but when we pulled into the parking lot it was a bluebird day! We had a few inches of fresh and spent the whole morning over in Mineral Basin getting fresh turns. I haven't skied in over a week (Gasp!) and it felt like being able to run after being on bed rest, I was so stoked. Our shredded beef burrito at Lonestar after only added to the glory of the day. Today was beautiful also and after going to hear my friend Jessica's farewell talk I rescued Paige from the indoors and we took a drive with the sunroof up. I have never seen blue skies like in Utah, I was telling Paige I don't know what I would do without the mountains, they keep me sane.
Here's to the weekend!!
Love the post! Poor, poor, Paige, I can't imagine how miserable that must have been. Nurse Haley to the rescue! You're the best. I've never been to Lonestar, sounds pretty tasty. yum!
ReplyDeleteOh Hay, you're amazing!!! I don't know what I would have done without you, you kept me sane! You took such good care of me and I definitely loved our drive yesterday and the treats up at Sundance. You'll have to e-mail those crazy pics.
