I know the Thanksgiving holiday is past but I have been thinking a lot about my blessings. For now, I am most grateful for the people in my life. I try to tell myself that getting that new J.Crew sweater or even my dream turn-of-the-century Italianate house filled with English and French antiques, will make me happy. But that's deceptive and entirely untrue. Not to say those delightful objects wouldn't add to my happiness, but they are not essential to it. I read a talk by the now late Elder Wirthlin about being happy and it resonated with me. I know what he said is true. Happiness is found in righteousness and in relationships. Why is it that I need almost constant reminders of this fact?
I went to a trunk show of Tracy Reese party frocks tonight at Proper Topper with my lovely friend Heather. The best part of this outing was not the covetable dresses but the lively chit-chat with Heath. We become quite loud when we get talking because her high energy infuses me with life and we amplify each other. Walking home we passed Trader Joe's where I noticed Tay's bike (aptly named the Free Spirit), so I went in to see what he was up to. I talked to him for a sec, but naturally he was with some chick, so I bought some lemons and made my way home. Soon after I got home, the Posse (Sara, Ashley, Kristen, Paige) returned from their volunteering at the vice president's holiday party. I miss them when we're apart for long periods and 24 hrs is a long time here in the Barlow. After a day of work I get rejuvenated from the wonderful people that fill my life out here in DC. And at work, I get emails from various friends in La Canada and Provo that brighten my cave-like cubicle. So thank you. To all of you.
I think you forgot to mention how grateful you are for your friend Ryan. I re-read it, and I know I'm not on the list. Unless I'm counted as being part of the "posse"......

I love this post. I also need reminding that all I need, I already have. Love you, Hay!

P.S. Did I mention that you look fabulous in all of your pictures? Because you really do.
Haley so glad I found your blog. Looks like you've had a lovely time in DC. Think you'll move back to the east coast after graduation?
ReplyDeleteHey Court, I have had a brilliant time on the east coast. I can't decide if I want to move back. I could probably get a job so that could play into it. I can't decide if I could live without the mountains and beach.
ReplyDeleteWow quite the adventure! I'm stoked to hear all this hubub! You must have been moving every minute, holy smokes that would really wear me out, I hope you got a nice nap when you got back to california.
