kickin it at the bu

The first week of August was spent in Malibu, and it was a good time from start to finish. Each morning rallied the troops and piled in the car in search of surf. We surfed for several hours, then cruised home to make a killer breakfast of buckwheat or buttermilk pancakes, or bran muffins and hot cereal. Us Frames take our breakfasts quite seriously, and we refueled happily each morning, in preparation for the next activity.

Usually we would paddle out in front of the house, or take the famous SeaHawk (an inflatable boat) out. Shelby and Taylor flew down from Utah, Lance, me, Mom and Dad were there, and each day there were friends that came and went. It was bliss. Unfortunately, I didn't document much of the week, and I had to solicit these photos from Shelby, who is a great documenter!
Saturday was a day of utter madness, my Dad and I rode our bikes to Malibu from La Canada with a group and when we arrived, the families of the riders were there to have a barbeque, and our fun friends the Carrolls, and the Gubernicks were there with their brood of teenagers. Luckily there are lots of places to sit, lots of boards to ride and lots of wetsuits at the beach house. We made carne asada tacos for lunch and they were delicious, with homemade refried beans, fresh salsa, avocado and mexican cheese.

I also was stoked that my dear friend Jen Porter came to visit. She spent the night, and the next day we got lunch at Huckleberry, a charming bakery/lunch spot in Santa Monica, and ice cream at Sweet Rose Creamery in the Brentwood Country Mart. I love having her around, and now that she's going to school in Boston time with her is precious. Thanks for stopping in Jen!!

On Thursday, on our way to Paradise Cove, my Dad and I had the most amazing experience with mother nature. We were cruising and we spotted a few dolphins, and then there were hundreds, all around us, jumping gleefully, and swimming along with their pod. They came very close to us, and I was in awe of their beauty and energy. Such a treat.
