The Marvelous Millers!!

Right after I got home from the temple Thursday night, I hopped in the Mini and cruised on down to Irvine to spend some time with the Millers. Heather and Ryan are some of my very favorite people; they understand me, know me, and I can be completely at ease in their company. I was stoked to get to go down there. We talked about a large variety of things and went to bed late Thursday night.

Their two boys, Finn and Jude, are specimens to behold; their blue eyes are arresting. Check out the blue eyes on Jude!!

Friday morning, I awoke to the mumblings of Mr. Finn as he lounged in his crib, waiting for one of his delirious parents to emerge from their room and retrieve him from his crib. When Ryan opened the door to come get him, he immediately said "Juuuuude", in his excitement that he would soon see his little brother and get to start another day of his blissful life. We lazed about for a bit and then assembled all the gear, loaded Buck (their volvo wagon), and drove into Laguna, where we hung out at the beach for a couple hours. Heath and Ryan handle two little boys with grace and ease, and I am always amazed at how effortlessly they glide through their day-to-day life. Heath is quite the trooper, carrying both boys, and several bags of beach accoutrements. They make such a good team.

I loved when Finn wanted the yogurt in the cooler, and there was no spoon to be found, so the shovel was enlisted.

Ryan is so cute with Finn, they are buddies.

On the way home from the beach, we stopped at Heath's favorite, Rose's Cafe. We got donuts, one chocolate cake donut with chocolate glaze and coconut. And one crumb. Delicious. Rose's was a solid discovery and one more indicator that Heath and I function on parallel wavelengths.

This was only the first trip down to Irvine. There will be more to come. And to put the icing on the cake, Ry decided he would wash and wax my filthy car!! While Heath and I hung out with the boys inside, Ry meticulously washed and waxed my car. It looks like brand new, and my Dad commented it looked better than it ever had. I drove home an extremely happy girl.

  1. Hay,

What a pleasant and flattering surprise to see this post! We are so happy you came to visit. Please come again soon. Mr. Finn is always better the second time around, and Jude . . . well, he'll probably still be giving the stink-eye no matter how often you come. You forgot to mention the wonderful brownies, hb's new favorite apron, and chocolates you brought - what a treat!
